REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
To apply, you must meet 3 requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in any field
- Ability to work in the US or Canada
- At least 1 year of experience with kids
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A teaching degree is preferred, but not essential! If you do not have one, you will be able to take a short TESOL course as part of the application process (it’s free and easy). This is what I did, it’s simple and you can take the quizzes as many times as you need.
- Fluent in English as VIPKid wants their students to learn proper pronunciation.
If you meet all 3 requirements and love working with kids, you are the type of applicant VIPKid is looking for! The application process tests your ability to make learning fun in an online setting, rather than your previous experience.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Laptop – with working internet and a webcam
- Headphones – this is not a necessity but they’re nice to have, especially with the quieter students (any headphones that work with your laptop)
- Lighting – Natural light is the best light; I use a ring light for my phone and have white light in a lamp without a lamp shade. You can also sit near a window but this can be tough if you have early morning or late night classes.
- Background – Find a map from the dollar store or here is one from Amazon. You can also tape together construction paper or find a fun shower curtain to hang behind you!
- Visible Teacher Name Tag – I love this because students forget our names so easily, it’s nice to have a sign big enough for them to see. Here is where I got mine.
